This was the long-awaited unveiling of Angel's original compositions from his soon to be available CD Heritage with his full band. An excellent crowd turned out for the show, and by the second set, the dance floor was also full. This was a very eclectic world music concert but included some excellent Songo compositions, and the second half leaned heavily toward the Cuban side of the band's book (including a cover of Van Van's Por Encima del Nivel, aka Sandunguera). This group did some excellent Samba and Soca as well, and their funk-Mozambique fusion number, Can't Find Love, might even have hit potential if it lands on the right desk somewhere . As you can see from the photos below, a lot of fun was had by all. A word to venue owners and festival operators: try to hire this band as it is now doing this material. The crowds will dig it, and they've already more than paid their dues playing the trad songs for years.
