Friday May 27 2005 - Tours & Los Van Van Lyrics
To end the week I have updated the tours section with the Charanga Habanera summer tour schedule and Candido Fabré's UK tour as well as small updates to Issac Delgado and Paulo FG.

We have also uploaded all the lyrics to Los Van Van's latest CD Chapeando. I know you're thinking that they are already transcribed in the CD cover, but they are not transcribed the way we like it: right down to the very last Ahi na'má'. If you're wondering what they are saying in those guías, this is the place to look. We have Ulises Santos to thank for these detailed transcriptions.

Thursday May 26 2005 - Cuban Salsa Congress World Tour 2005-2008
After the good response to the Cuban Salsa Congress in Munich, Germany, Latin Lovers International has decided to set up a Cuban Salsa Congress World Tour 2005-2008. The congress locations for 2005 are:
September 16-18 2005 in Athens, Greece
October 14-16 2005 in Amsterdam, Holland
November 18-20 2005 in Shanghai, China
December 30, 2005 - January 1, 2006 in Cape Town, South Africa

For information about tickets and for the program for each specific congress  see http://www.salsa-social-club.com. The information is available in a variety of languages, although it looks like the program information is still partly in German.

Putting cuban salsa into the limelight in Europe we want to keep the balance between the different styles. Conceptionizing the congress, we already understood, what we're doing is a pioneers job. Tuesday May 24 2005 - Back from vacation
So now I can start posting updates again. I'll start with some info and tour dates for Maraca who played at Cubadisco yesterday at 8:30 PM at Teatro Mella. During that show the DVD "Best of Maraca" which is nominated for best DVD was presented and projected on a giant screen. Special guests Yoruba Andabo and Tata Güines joined Maraca and his band for this occasion. Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 25th at 8:30 PM at Teatro Karl Marx (Calle 1ra y 10, Playa), Maraca will play at the CUBA-JAPON gala; for this show, Maraca will be joined by some of the Japanese musicians and dancers invited to CUBADISCO 2005. Check out his tours page for the details of Maraca's upcoming European and Latin American tours.

We also have some preliminary info about Haila's European Tour, which will be from July 1-30. We have a list of cities but no dates as yet. She will be promoting her new CD, Diferente.

Ivette has updated the Sur Caribe pages with the URL of their new website. Don't forget to check the Artists Homepages page under Links every so often, because more and more groups are coming out with their own homepage these days. Ivette has also created a musician's page for Lisandro Arias.

Monday May 2 2005 - Cubadisco 2005 Prize Nominations
We have a list of all the nominations for Cubadisco 2005 which will be taking place in Havana from May 21 through May 29. This is a great time to visit Cuba because all of the bands are there and you can see some fantastic concerts. In the dance music category the nominees are: Chapeando, Locos Por Mi Habana, Nadie Se Parece a Ti, Salsa y Candela, Fuego en La Maya and Mamborama. Haila and La Charanga Habanera can be found in the pop fusion category this year, while Maraca and Bamboleo are both nominated for DVDs Issac Delgado is nominated for his greatest compilation and Charanga Habanera for their video Ay amor. Klímax is also nominated for best recording.

Issac Delgado will be releasing his new CD Prohibido at Cubadisco on May 25th and will present it to his fans on May 28th at Salón Rosado de la Tropical. In June he departs for Europe where he will be playing at New Morning in Paris on June 17th and then in Copenhagen, Denmark at Amager Bio on June 18th. Timba in Mexico
Mexico is enjoying a lot of timba right now. In addition to the tour by Los Van Van, Dayron y su Boom played at Club Mambo in Cancun during the month of March and will now be touring all of México for one year! Currently Lady Salsa is appearing at Mambo Café de Merida, and on the 4th and 5th Los Van Van will be playing at Mambo Café in Merida and Cancun, respectively.

Timba en México
México disfruta mucho timba en este tiempo. Además que la gira de Los Van Van, Dayron y su Boom tocaba en Club Mambo en Cancun durante el mes de marzo y ¡ahora comienzan una gira por todo México durante un año! Actualmente Lady Salsa toca en Mambo Café de Mérida, y el 4y 5 Los Van Van tocará en Mambo Café en Mérida y Cancún respectivamente.
