Two New Singers for Salsa Mayor

Maykel Blanco's New 4-Singer Line-Up

On May 19th Maykel Blanco announced at Facebook that singer Alexis David Zamora Garrido will be leaving Salsa Mayor. Word has it that Alexis David will be joining David Calzado y Su Charanga Habanera. Today Maykel announced that he has signed two singers: Yunier Pérez Enrique and Alejandro González Casanova who we know from Azúcar Negra. The announcement said that they will be recording their first TV program with Los Mayores today, and their first performance with the band will be in the middle of June. We wish Alexis David our best in his new role with the charangueros and are excited to see and hear the new Salsa Mayor with a four man front line!

Me

Yeah Ryan, I think they will both fit in well with salsa Mayor and I'm looking forward to seeing where it all goes. Limonta has faced this problem a number of times and always ends up finding new talent. He has a good eye. I really like Alexis David as a singer and musicians. I hope he doesn't just end up perreando and singing playback. He has so much talent. But in then end it's a move up the status ladder and probably in pay as well, to join David Calzado y La Charanag Hababera. I guess these changes are part of what keeps the Havana music scene fresh.

That is a loss for Azucar Negra, but in the ever changing world of Cuban bands and their lead singers I am sure Leonel Limonta will have no problem finding someone capable of handling those positions. As for Maykel Blanco, that seems to be a gain for him!
