HAVANA RHYTHM AND DANCE FESTIVAL 2015

...WILL BE HELD MARCH 3 TO 8  IN HAVANA. Teatro Mella, Teatro Karl Marx, Salón Rosado Benny Moré de la Tropical, Sala Avenida, Hotel Palco, Hotel Habana Libre, La Gruta and The Gardens of Teatro Mella among other venues, will be attended by more than 1500 artists as the seats of the maters classes and presentations by the leading dance music groups, jazz bands, folk groups, and several of the most important dance companies in our country as in previous years. And as guest we will have:  Marvin “Smitty” Smith, Memo Acevedo, Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band and Jeff Coffin´s Big Band Project from the United States; Estados Unidos; the group Nomad Collective from England; Haakon Graf and Per Mathisen from Norway, Manuel Moreno from Venezuela, and Aldo Mazza from Canada.

We will hold a posthumous tribute to Chuck Silverman "Palito" on Day 3 at Teatro Mella. And throughout the week will have various surprises. Havana D'Primera, Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor, Manolito Simonet, Paulo FG, Klímax, Robertico Carcarsés and Interactive, Companía Santiago Alfonso, Companía Liszt Alfonso, Havana Dance Compás, Muñequitos de Matanzas, Afrocuba Matanzas, Osaín del Monte, Yoruba Andabo, Rodney Barreto, Oliver Valdés, Ramsés Rodriguez, and Eliel Lazo are some of the guests.

As festival activities we have the International Percussion Competition to be held at the Sala Avenida, in which musicians will compete in the categories of drums, timbales, congas, bongos and batá drums. The fetsival also featres the International Competition in Casino Dance (the first round for residents in Cuba was held February 20), and foreign guests who choose to participate will compete directly at Teatro Mella during the festival upon registration to the event.
