ENGLISH: The 2018 Fiesta del Tambor "Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam" kicked off yesterday with concert at El ISA by Arnie Lang and students of the percussion school at El ISA. Today activities get underway with events in locations throughout the city including Teatro Mella and Jardines del Mella. The new cultural center Casa de la Música de Plaza will host a masters class in batucada by Fabiana Cosa followed by the first leg of the percussion competition in the Sala Teatro. In the Sala Grande there will be concerts tonight by Rozaliz y su orquesta and Bamboleo and the Piano Bar Convergencia will feature Joao Donato, Janis Siegel y Nanny Assis and Luan Carlos Marín y su Grupo. There is so much going on that you need to check out the program. ESPAÑOL: Fiesta del Tambor "Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam" 2018 comenzó ayer con un concierto en El ISA por parte de Arnie Lang y alumos de la escuela de percisión en El ISA. Hoy se inician actividades con eventos en lugares de toda la ciudad, incluidos Teatro Mella y Jardines del Mella. El nuevo centro cultural Casa de la Música de Plaza acogerá una clase de maestros de batucada de Fabiana Cosa seguida de la primera etapa de la competencia de percusión en la Sala Teatro. En la Sala Grande habrá conciertos esta noche de Rozaliz y su orquesta y Bamboleo y el Piano Bar Convergencia contará con Joao Donato, Janis Siegel y Nanny Assis y Luan Carlos Marín y su Grupo. The 2018 Fiesta del Tambor Guillermo Barreto en Memoriam begins March 5th and really is a party with so many facets that you are guaranteed to find something for you. The complete program has now been published. Check it out and you can even download it as a PDF if you want to have it with you as you walk around Havana.

Many of the events will take place the the new Cultural Center and Casa de la Musica in Plaza, which houses both a concert venue, a piano bar and also a community center. Click here to read Bill's blog on it.  There are music and dance workshops and competitions, and lots of concerts. How about Bamboleo, Klímax, Manolito y su Trabuco, Aisar y el Expresso de Cuba, Pupy y Los Que Son Son, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Azúcar Negra, Tanja Pantoja, Achy Lang, Charanga Latina, Los 4, Los Van Van, El Niño y la Verdad, Issac Delgado, and Havana d'Primera to name a few. And that doesn't include the jazz and rumba concerts!

ENGLISH: Baby Lores my be best known for his reggaeton songs such as "Déjala ir" with Insurrecto & Clan 537 and "Los besos de tu boca" with El Chacal, but Lores is multifaceted artist. Beginning his career as a child in Cienfuegos, he has a very nice timbre as lead singer, plays piano, guitar and bass and is also a composer, arranger and producer. In 2013 despite his great success as  a reggaetonero, he decided to record more traditional Cuban genres where he collaborated with stars such as Descemer Bueno, Kelvis Ochoa, Omi Hernández, Roldan (Orishas), Alain Daniel, and Alexander Abreu, who also did some of the arrangements on the album. The CD "180 Grados" became available in 2017 at digital retailers and I recommend you check it out!

Comenzó su carrera como niño en Cienfuegos, tiene un timbre muy agradable como cantante principal, toca el piano, la guitarra y el bajo, y también es compositor, arreglista y productor. En 2013 a pesar de su gran éxito como reggaetonero, decidió grabar géneros cubanos más tradicionales donde colaboró con estrellas como Descemer Bueno, Kelvis Ochoa, Omi Hernández, Roldán (Orishas), Alain Daniel, y Alexander Abreu quien también hizo algunos arreglos en el álbum. ¡El CD "180 Grados" se lanzó en comercios minoristas digitales en el 2017 y recomiendo que lo compruebes!
