ENGLISH: The Festival de la Salsa en Cuba is in full swing. Last night the Los Van Van concert was cancelled due to rain, but they will perform tonight from 1:20am to 2:30. What a fantastic line-up! If you want to keep up with each day of the festival, you can follow their official facebook page. I also highly recommend following the page of Nathanaël Mergui Photographe, who is posting stunning photos everyday from the festival as well as pictures the city of Havana and her people.
ESPAÑOL: Festival de la Salsa en Cuba está en pleno apogeo. Anoche, el concierto de Los Van Van se canceló debido a la lluvia, pero actuarán esta noche de 1:20 a.m. a 2:30 p.m. ¡Qué alineación tan fantástica! Si deseas mantenerte al día con cada día del festival, puedes seguir su página oficial de Facebook. ENGLISH: In exactly one month the 5th Edition of the Festival de la Salsa en Cuba will take place in Havana. This year the venue has been moved to Club 500 José Antonio Echeverría Calle 12 between Calzada & 3rd. As usual the event combines, dance workshops, excursions, and six nights of internationally renowned DJs and amazing concerts. This years' foreign artist will be Victor Manuelle, who will close the event on Sunday, March 1st. Click here purchase tickets to various events or a full pass + hotel.
ESPAÑOL: En exactamente un mes, la 5ª Edición del Festival de la Salsa en Cuba tendrá lugar en La Habana. Este año, el lugar se mudó a Club 500 José Antonio Echeverría Calle 12 entre Calzada & 3era. Como es habitual, el evento combina talleres de baile, excursiones y seis noches de DJs de renombre internacional y conciertos increíbles. ACAS played two sold out shows at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley with several new members and several new pieces, including a tremendous timba original (Se fue y me dijo) and a show-stopping medley of classic Puerto Rican plenas. Alto songo featured a fascinating set of improvised décimas in Controversia Cubana style--featuring vocalist Emilio Suárez and De Marcos, who has become a formidable lead vocalist in his own right, incorporating subtle blues and hiphop inflections at various points. Bay Area master John Santos introduced the show and sat in for a fiery conga solo.
