Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

SpanishEnglishMichelle White - Canta Cuba 2005

At the discotec Rumba de Milano, from February 13 to 20, the first edition of CANTACUBA was inaugurated, a music festival to make the culture of Cuba and its marvelous music known, through eight special events in which were exhibited important exponents of popular Cuban music.

Unfortunately I could only go to the last 4 nights, on which played Pachito Alonso y sus Kini Kini, Adalberto Álvarez and Mamborama. Saturday night when Adalberto played was the most emotional and had the largest audience. The last night they had to cancel the concert of Paulito FG due to visa problems...but as a pleasant surprise in his place Bill Wolfer and Mamborama played. Mamborama is the musical project of the American pianist who includes in his orchestra musicians such as Alexander Abreu and singer El Indio, plus other musicians from the orchestra of Manolito y su Trabuco. The concert closed with a jam session in which Pachito Alonso and his musicians made us dance to the sound of La Habana me queda chiquita. The audience went crazy!

To my surprise Ruzzo from Orishas, who lives in Milan, was also among the audience and he very kindly informed me about the projects of Orishas, telling me that in March they will begin their promotional tour for the new CD El Kilo, a tour that will take them throughout latin America and Europe.
