DVD Review: Éxitos by Pupy y Los Que Son Son (EGREM 2012)

This is an interesting product in both a physical and musical sense:  the disc contains 30 MP3s and an audiovisual track, the documentary César Pupy Pedroso, de la Timba a Pogolotti, with a run time of approximately 27 minutes.  The musical selections are, for the most part, the more high-intensity version of many of Pupy's hits, the versions that I would have chosen myself had I been doing the selections personally.  The documentary contains Pupy's reflections about several important moments in his personal and professional lives. Several other artists make brief appearances during the course of the documentary.

In an environment where the digital download market is still in its infancy,  this type of product is an interesting method to allow those with MP3 players access to commercially legitimate MP3 files.   Éxitos received a Cubadisco nomination in 2013 in the Compilation category.
