Septeto Nacional
Septeto Nacional, the premier Cuban son band in the world today, performed at Yoshi's San Francisco to sold out crowds from November 23, 2009 thru November 26, 2009. This current US tour of Septeto, which included performances in New York City, Puerto Rico, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles, was the first time since 1933 that they performed in the US. The performance of the fourth generation of this band was magical. I attended the opening performance on November 23, 2009 and what follows are photos from the sound check and concert. The band was: Francisco David Oropesa Fernández - bongó, Dagoberto Sacerio Oliva - guitar and vocals, Enrique Abdón Collazo Collazo - tres and vocals, Agustín Someillán García - trumpet, Eugenio Rodríguez Rodríguez - vocals and clave, Ricardo Roberto Oropesa Fernández - mc, dancer and percussion, Raúl Acea Rivera - bass and Crispin Díaz Hernández vocals and maracas.
