Hard Copy of Volume 1 Now Available
The first volume of my Beyond Salsa Piano series is now also available as a full color paperback book on amazon.com! Note that this is the book only. The audio files are only available at LPM, which also sells a digital-only version of the book for a reduced price.
I've updated the new status page accordingly.
Volume 2 will be available in digital format before Christmas and hard-copy in January (I hope - amazon is changing to a better system and I'm waiting for that before uploading more volumes).
In the meantime, here's the online version, which includes audio and notation for excerpts from the first 6 volumes.
Huge QBA Show in Oakland Tonight!
Jesús Díaz y su QBA will be at Sweet's Ballroom tonight for the first what what will hopefully be a steady string of Cuban music concerts at this classic (and massive) venue in downtown Oakland. The next event will be a rumba party with Sandy Pérez, Jesús Díaz and Erick Barbería Sunday night, from 7:00-11:00.
Beyond Salsa Piano - First Releases!
It's so much more fun to write them than to proofread them ....
In any case, the eBook and audio files for Volume 1 can now be purchased at LPM. I've also added a new status page, where you can keep tabs on the projected release dates for the other volumes and related products. The physical book version has been approved and will appear on amazon in about a week or so.
And of course, the "online book" is already on timba.com, with one or two complete tumbaos - with audio - from each of the first 6 volumes.
To clear up any confusion, here's how it works: for each volume in the series there are actually FOUR different "products". Click "continue reading" below for the details.
Somebody Slap Me
I'm starting to believe this is actually going to happen. I'll let you know when and if there are actual boots on the ground, but it's gotten as far as this cool site that counts down the days and hours:
Charanga Habanera in SF Countdown Site
Do I hear the distant rumblings of floodgates opening?
Of course, readers in Canada, Perú and Europe, must be rolling around laughing as they watch us poor yumas flailing around in agony and anticipation.
