Guaco started playing traditional gaita as a student group. Their early efforts are raw and unpolished yet melodic enough to see enough glimmer of hope. They were not consiered one of the top gaita bands at the time. It took them fusioning their sound with electic guitar, bass and piano (to great displeasure of gaita traditionalists) to capture the attention of the crowds at the time.
