Interview with Leonid Torres
April 28, 2004
by Ivette León
translated by Michelle White

TIMBA.COM How do you feel about being part of Charanga Habanera?
Leonid- For me working with a like David is a school and la Charanga Habanera is an orchestra that everyone would like to be in. I feel at home, and for the career of a timbero this is the best.

TIMBA.COM- Did you ever think of being part of this group?
Leonid- I always dreamed of it but I didn't think I would be here, it was something unattainable until the opportunity arrived.

TIMBA.COM-What do you most like and dislike about the group?
Leonid- It's an orchestra that from the stage is very charismatic, in addition that we all get along very well, therefore I don't see anything hat I dislike.

TIMBA.COM- We know that you like ballads a lot. How do you feel recording this CD?
Leonid-
I feel very good because I'm doing what I like the most.

TIMBA.COM- Why this attraction for ballads?
Leonid- Because it's the genre with which I most identify, moreover that it transmits much more to the audience.

TIMBA.COM-They tell me you are somewhat shy. How do you change this attitude on the stage?
Leonid- I don't believe that I'm shy, I'm very serious above all in my work, but on the stage you have to reach the audience and I have to change this attitude.

TIMBA.COM-How frequently do you visit Timba.com?
Leonid- Every time that I have the time and opportunity. I have visited it many times.

TIMBA.COM-What can you say to all the readers at Timba.com who write about you daily in the page?
Leonid- That I read their messages and they make me very happy. Thanks to them I exist and I'm here. Thanks to everyone for choosing me as one of your favorites.
