lugar de nacimiento/birthplace: 22 de octubre del 1986 en Guines, Provincia Habana

formación musical/musical background: Escuela Vocacional del Arte

lugar actual de residencia/current residence: La Habana

Osmar studies classical guitar at the E.V.A. (Vocational School for the Arts) because, at the time, they lack a bass teacher. Consequently Osmar strips a nylon-string guitar and installs four E-strings; essentially a self-assembled four-string bass. At the age of 17 he is asked to join Diákara, an established latin jazz group. He participates in a jazz competition (Festival de Jovenes Jazzistas) and wins a top prize for virtuosity and popularity. Recently he traveled to France with singer William Vivanco. He is also the musical director for Yulién Oviedo's new band: a up-and-coming powerhouse of cuban timba. [M.Lazarus]cuban music, musica cubana
