Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

Calle Real in Japan

Tour Dates Announced

Calle Real

On June 11th I posted an interview with Calle Real where they mentioned that they had an upcoming tour of Japan in August. The dates and venues of the five-concert promotional tour have recently been released and I have updated the Calle Real tours page . Among other events the callejeros will be performing two days at the Isla de la Salsa festival in Fukuoka. Below is the promotional video that has been uploaded to YouTube for the tour. Nice!

Me

Yeah I though this was a really well done ad.

I hope that a lot of the folks who are handling the business end of US tours notice this video and the Colombian Tirso clip. Promotion has frequently been the Achilles' heel of Timba music in the US, and we could all benefit from seeing how things are done in other places.
