Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

Cuban Recordings and the Latin GRAMMY Awards®  2014
Compiled by Bill Tilford

Every year, more of the best recordings from Cuba are being submitted to LARAS for consideration in the Latin GRAMMY® Awards.  Cuba also has its own superb awards program, Cubadisco, and many recordings are now submitted to both programs.

Although these recordings are of excellent quality and well-known in many countries, in some cases, Timba.com may be the resource in the United States that contains a review of them.   Bill Tilford monitors this situation closely, and based on what he has learned, we want to bring to your attention the following reviews and other documentation about several of the recordings from Cuba that are likely to appear in the Latin GRAMMY® process.  This is almost certainly a partial list, but we hope that this will serve as a valuable resource for learning more about these recordings.
