Danny Lozada & Septeto Nacional Thanksgiving Shows
Yoshi's Oakland & San Francisco to Feature Cuban Music
Wednesday, November 25th 2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Cuban Music in the Bay Area
Danny Lozada 8 and 10 pm shows at Yoshi's Oakland November 25, are a dream come true for timba fans hungry for the fast, intricate music he composes and performs. This is his first Bay Area appearance since 2007. Danny arrives Sunday night, 11/22, for a guest appearance at Jelly’s with Fito Reinoso.
Then Wednesday, 11/25, he’ll light up Yoshi’s Oakland with two shows. Danny’s performance and band leading abilities are amazing and seeing him at this world-famous venue – with an open dance floor and the best sound system anywhere – will be extraordinary.
His 11-piece band of great timba musicians will begin full force at 8 pm, and by the 10 pm show there may be some surprises.
Hearings this week in Washington, D.C. on lifting the embargo, along with sold out Septeto Nacional shows on the East Coast – have added to the buzz across the U.S. that Cuban music is back full force. Support these internationally recognized musicians and our Bay Area musicians as well.
Both shows are expected to sell out - advance ticket purchase is recommended (click here to buy).

Yosvany Terry Fotos
Tom has posted two new galleries from Yosvany's recent Bay Area Tour of the Museum of the African Diaspora and Yerba Buena Gardens.
There's also a possibility that the family patriarch Eladio "Poncho" Terry, of Maravillas de Florida fame, may be travelling north for Yunior's wedding, and that we might get a Terry family reunion concert. Keep your fingers crossed!
HAS THE NEW TIMBA WAVE BEGUN?
Are The Rumors True?
Ah hello out there? Reportedly Los Van Van has confirmed that they are playing in the next Playboy Jazz Festival! And these 2 flyers for upcoming Diakara and Pupy y los que Son Son shows at S.O.B.s (in New York City) have surfaced. What is going on? As far as we know Pupy is in Italy during that time. Let's hope that there is a coming wave of TIMBA concerts.
Please help us figure out if any of this is true or just BS. Click here to follow our forum thread on the coming wave of Cuban music. Bring those bands over already people.
Promoters send us your dates to giras [arroba] timba [punto] com

Timba Thanksgiving Week
All sorts of stuff is happening on both coasts next week, including two big shows on Thanksgiving Day.
First - the most exciting show in years from my perspective: On Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, Danny Lozada will be at Yoshi's for two shows with a truly killer band and Septeto Nacional sitting in at the 10:00 show. His set list includes 4 songs from Tremendo delirio, 3 from Tanto le pedí and three strong newer originals, including La Habana a revés. Danny will also be sitting in at Jelly's with Ritmo y Armonía on Sunday evening.
Septeto Nacional has been selling out shows in New York and will be at Yoshi's San Francisco on Thanksgiving night and the three nights before that. On Wednesday, they play an 8:00 show and then zip across the bridge to join Danny's late show.
Meanwhile, in Miami, Tiempo Libre will be at Broward Center's Amaturo Theater in Fort Lauderdale.
