CD REVIEW: Sin Escala by El Noro y Primera Clase (Unicornio 2015)

Sin Escala is the debut solo album by El Noro, who has previously sung with Maykel Blanco, Manolito SImonet and Pupy Pedroso and others.  All of the compositions are by El Noro, and Alexander Abreu contributed some of the arrangements.  

Overall, this is a very well done Timba/Cuban Salsa album.  Apart from the vocals, one thing that really stands out are the excellent orchestrations, especially the brass arrangements. There is one Bachata track, but this has become sufficiently commonplace in recent Timba recordings that it almost doesn't warrant mentioning anymore.   

Sin Escala won the Música Bailable - New Talents category in Cubadisco 2016, and we look forward to future albums by Primera Clase.
