A new Timba Night began recently on Tuesdays in Chicago at the 90 Miles Cafe on Armitage in Chicago. Great music, friendly people, great food, no cover (it’s DJ rather than live bands). It’s a welcome addition to the Chicago wilderness, and hopefully this will grow and thrive over time. Chicago is underserved for this. |

The next Timba night on Jan 25 will actually be at the Siboney on N. Western Av in Chicago. |

This is great news! I really hope it takes off. I’m also going to post the info at Timba Geeks. Is the night held at different clubs or is it just moving for the 25th because the 90 miles cafe is busy that day? |

I originally thought it would settle in at 90 miles, but it looks like it’s going to “rove” a little for a few weeks (I’m not one of the organizers, just a booster). |

THE NEXT CUBAN TIMBA IN CHICAGO DANCE NIGHT IS….... The Blizzard of 2011, still in progress as I type, zeroed out what would have been last nights event at the Siboney (along with just about everything else in the city involving cars, buses and trains). My own street is impassable at the moment with three-foot drifts (six-foot drifts in my back yard.) |
