Jazz Tour Explosion Fall 2014
This is going to be a little Chicago-centric, but multiple cities are sometimes involved, and Aruan Ortíz, Mezcla, Harold López-Nussa, Alfredo Rodríguez and Tiempo Libre are all going on tours in the United States very soon, and all of them have stops in Chicago:
1. Aruán Ortíz Orbiting Quartet. In Chicago on August 29 at the Beverly Arts Center and Detroit on August 30 at The Detroit Jazz Festival. This Santiago-born piano virtuoso is now an internationally-famous Jazz artist. Check out his website, which includes audio samples and videos, here.
2. Mezcla will be touring North America in September and October. Their newest album will be officially released in October. More to come on that very soon. Confirmed dates so far include:
Sept. 12: World Music Festival Chicago, Millennium Park Stage
Sept. 13: World Music Festival Madison, WI
Sept. 18: Minnaert Center for the Arts, South Puget Sound Community College
Sept. 20: Icicle Creek Center for the Arts, Snowy Owl Theater, Leavenworth, WA
Sept. 21: Stroum Jewish Community Center, Seattle, WA
October 1: Yoshi's Jazz Club, Oakland, CA
October 2: Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Santa Cruz
3. Harold Lopez-Nussa is touring in 17 North American cities in support of his phenomenal album New Day. Chicagoans can see him in Evanston, Illinois on September 29 at Space. This tour will be a trio featuring Harold, Ruy Adrián López-Nussa on Drums and bassist Jorge Sawa Pérez on bass. You can read our review of New Day here.
