Roberto Linares is an example of the incredible amount of talent in Cuba. He played in Azúcar Negra between their demo recording, "Vengo de estreno", and their official release, "Andar andando", so he never appeared on a recording, but I heard him play live many times and had the chance to record MIDI files with him and he's an astoundingly great pianist. He left Azúcar Negra for the more lucrative job of playing teclado in Adalberto Alvarez y su Son. We'll be looking forward to hearing more of his exciting timba piano playing in the future. [Kevin Moore]

Roberto has moved to Toronto where he recorded his solo CD "Que no se pierda la escencia" which is a fusion of timba, salsa, rap and reggaeton. He is an active part of the Toronto Cuban music scene. [Michelle White]
